“Anyone who knows me knows that I am really
into hair. I’m a real girly girl and love doing my hair and
experimenting with different styles”.-ZooeyDeschanel
That sums up the versatility of hair.It is
the only body part that we can change at will.We can cut them,
straighten them, perm them and color them.
All of these take a toll on the health of
our hair. Add dirt, pollution, sun and the stress we face on a daily
basis to the mix. To top it all, beyond the washing and conditioning,
most of us tend to neglect our hair. The result is more frequent bad
hair days and constantly unmanageable hair.
To combat these issues let’s look at hair
masks fit for different hair types. Each hair type has different needs
and faces a different set of troubles.Let’s concentrate on three
different hair masks for home – dry, normal and oily hair that is easy
to make and use too!

For all you beauties with the dry hair
type, wouldn’t you love your hair to be super manageable, soft, less
frizzy and at the same time not weighed down.

oily hair for the fear that it it might become even oilier. This hair

behind a mask for oily hair is to find one that controls and reduces
the secretion of oil and yet does not take away nutrition from your
hair.

Tips To Maximise The Benefits of Hair Masks
Sometimes you need an extra boost to
maximise the benefits of the mask.Let’s look at some tips for good hair
care. Below are some tips to maximise the benefits of a hair mask:
- Always apply the mask on shampooed hair. Just like you would apply a face pack to cleansed skin, apply the hair-mask to cleansed hair. The cleansed hair is more capable of absorbing the nutrients from the mask that unclean hair.
- Separate your hair into sections, and apply the mask from root to tip. The mask provides nutrition to the entire length of your hair and not just the tips or the roots. Sectioning ensures that you don’t skip any surfaces.
- Tie your hair in a bun. This ensures that the mask stays on and doesn’t drip off before you can get the full benefit of it.
- Wrap the hair with a shower cap, and leave for 15-30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the shower cap and cover your head with a hot-towel (dip a towel in hot water, and wring, to remove all water). Keep the hot towel on the head for 5 minutes. Repeat, if desired. The hot towel has the effect of a steamer. This opens the pores on your head. Thereby, ensuring better absorption of the nutrients into the scalp.
- Now remove the hot-towel, and let your hair and scalp air-dry, so that any sweat may dry.
- Wash your hair with plain water (you have already shampooed, and the mask acted as the conditioner), and towel-dry. Make sure that you pat dry your and not rub it. Rubbing only leads to further damage that can cause increased breakage in the future.
