A receding hairline or male pattern baldness, as it is also known, is
a condition in which the hairline begins to well, recede! It can be a
cause of embarrassment for some, while some may take it in their stride
and not be bothered by it. It all depends on how the person reacts to
the condition and what (if any) measures he takes to treat it. In this
post, we’ll take a look at some of the most common factors that cause
receding hairline. Then, we’ll also take a look at what measures can be
taken to treat or curb the condition from progressing further. Let’s go!
What Causes Receding Hairline?
1. Genetic Predisposition:
The most common cause of a receding hairline is the genetic
predisposition of the person. If there is a family history of this
condition, then not much can be done to prevent or curb it.
2. Hormones:
Along with genes, it is also the various hormonal changes in the body that can be causing the hairline to recede.
3. Medication:
Sometimes, certain medications can have an adverse effect on the body and the body reacts by shedding hair!
4. Insufficient Nutrition:
When the body does not receive the required amount of nutrition, it
begins displaying symptoms to warn us that there’s something wrong. Hair loss could be one such symptom.
5. Stress:
While many may not believe or agree with this, stress has been linked with hairline receding and hair loss as well.
How To Treat Or Counter Receding Hairline?
1. Avoid Stress:
The
first, and probably the easiest and cost-effective thing to do, to
prevent hair loss and a receding hairline, is to try and avoid as much
stress as possible. While we all are extremely busy, we forget that
every minute of stress can lead to severe health problems, the first
sign of which may be something as insignificant as a receding hairline.
2. Eat Well:
Since
poor nutrition is one of the causes of a receding hairline, it is only
natural that to counter this effect, the body must receive sufficient
and required nutrition. Include items that will stimulate blood
circulation and keep the body healthy and energetic. Fish, eggs, meat,
pumpkin, are all great sources of iron. They can help your hair grow better as well as benefit your entire body.
3. Hair And Head Treatments:
Most
commonly, with age, our hair follicles (the tiny openings that the hair
grows out from) begin to function slowly, until they finally just stop.
This is symptomised by gradual thinning of hair, receding hairline, and
finally baldness. Hence, in order to stimulate these hair follicles, it
is advisable to get regular head massages
with invigorating oils. This helps keep the follicles active, and thus
slows, stalls, or prevents a receding hairline or hair loss.
4. Over The Counter Medication:
There
are many OTC drugs that are available that claim to treat or even cure a
receding hairline. While most of these may seem safe, don’t throw
caution to the wind before you begin consuming them. Consult your
physician before you consume any of these medications as you never know
if they can affect you adversely instead of helping you.
A
receding hairline is not really a threatening medical condition. It is
something that happens to most men (they are more prone to it than
women) as they age. And since it’s not something to be afraid of,
medically, most physicians advise against the use of unnecessary
medication to treat it. But it can cause a certain level of
embarrassment in men, and hence more natural and safer methods of
treatment, like the ones mentioned above, are recommended. So, if you or someone you know is suffering from receding hairline and
contemplating the use of OTC medication to treat it, wait, and give
these hairline restoration remedies a try. They won’t cause any side
effect and will not leave you worse for wear!
