Troubled by oily skin? Looking for some easy home remedies to tackle
your skin issues? Skin that shines is not always healthy. Oily skin is
the result of excess secretion of skin oil (sebum). Although oily skin
is mostly associated with teenage years and puberty, some people possess
that skin type for their entire lives. Oily skin needs proper care for
it to look beautiful always.
How To Recognize Oily Skin?
The hormones called androgens stimulate healthy oil production, which
is beneficial for our skin. But, the same thing becomes a problem when
the oil production happens in excess amounts. This excess oil makes our
skin appear greasy.
Skin Test:
A simple test can be performed to check whether your skin is oily or not:
- Take a paper napkin and press it on your face.
- Specially the T-zone area (the entire forehead down to your nose and chin).
- Press the napkin for few seconds.
- The paper will appear translucent with oil when you pull it out.
Do’s & Don’ts:
Here are a few things, which you should keep in mind, if you have oily skin:
- It is important to take care of oily skin. Whether it is less oily or more, proper care should be taken to avoid further damage.
- Avoid experimenting with your skin.
- Never treat oily skin with newly launched products without proper knowledge.
- Too much of exfoliation and toning will make your skin even more oily.
Homemade Remedies For Oily Skin:
1. Cleansing
- Washing your face with lukewarm water 3 times a day will help remove excess oil and stop acne formation. Try to splash cold water on your face; this will close the pores and maintain the pH balance of your skin.

your skin.

Warning:
Remember that we all fall into one of these skin types – normal, dry,
combination or oily. But our skin type changes with the change in
weather conditions. Your oily skin may turn combination when you visit a
cool place. So, always pay attention to your skin.
Your skin will produce more oil (sebum) to keep it moisturized. So,
drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Don’t let your diet, stress,
and lifestyle affect your skin. Your skin type fluctuates and changes
due to these factors.
Tips:
Be very consistent with your skin care regime. Cleaning and moisturizing your skin before retiring to bed is very important.
Apply powder based make-up and don’t forget to clean it off before
sleeping. Use oil blotting papers during the day to absorb excess oil.
Eat more vegetables, fruits and whole grains. And apply aloe vera gel at
bed time to keep your oily skin well-moisturized without making it
greasy.
